Chelsea Clinch Second Champions League Title
Mount Fires Blues to Glory in Porto
Estádio do Dragão, 29th May 2021
Chelsea Football Club emerged victorious in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final, securing their second title in the competition's history. Mason Mount's 42nd-minute strike proved decisive at Estadio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal.
The Blues dominated possession throughout the match and created numerous chances, with Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic coming close on several occasions. It was Mount's moment of brilliance, however, that broke the deadlock. The England international received possession just outside the penalty area and unleashed a powerful low drive that flew past Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.
Manchester City, who had been seeking their first Champions League trophy, struggled to create clear-cut chances and failed to find an equalizer. Chelsea held on resolutely in the closing stages to secure a memorable victory under manager Thomas Tuchel, who has now won the Champions League with two different clubs.
