Madrid's late show sees them through despite Man City fightback
Real Madrid produced a stunning late show to beat Manchester City 3-2 on Wednesday and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The Spanish giants trailed 2-0 with just 15 minutes remaining after goals from Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden.
But Real hit back with three goals in the space of 11 minutes, with Rodrygo scoring twice before Karim Benzema netted the winner.
The victory means Real have now reached the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2018, and they will face either Chelsea or Arsenal in the last four.
Man City, meanwhile, will be left to rue their missed chances after they failed to take advantage of their dominance in the first half.
The English champions had the better of the chances in the opening 45 minutes, with Mahrez hitting the post and Foden having a goal ruled out for offside.
But Real were more clinical after the break, with Rodrygo scoring twice in quick succession to level the tie.
Benzema then completed the comeback with a stunning header in the 83rd minute, to send the Santiago Bernabeu into raptures.
It was a remarkable victory for Real, who have now won their last four Champions League matches.
They will be confident of going all the way this season, and they will be the team to beat in the semi-finals.
