Boeing's 737 MAX Returns to Service: A Timeline
737 MAX's Entry into Service
The Boeing 737 MAX series made its debut with the 737 MAX 8 entering service in May 2017. This was followed by the 737 MAX 9 entering service in March 2018. The MAX 200, a high-density version of the MAX 8, also entered service.
Grounding and Return to Service
After two fatal crashes involving the 737 MAX 8, the aircraft was grounded worldwide in 2019. Following extensive investigations and modifications, the 737 MAX was cleared to return to service in most parts of the world in late 2020 and 2021.
737 MAX Variants
The 737 MAX family includes three variants:
- 737 MAX 8: Replaced the 737-800 and has a longer fuselage than the 737-700.
- 737 MAX 9: First developed variant in the 737 MAX series.
- 737 MAX 200: A high-density version of the MAX 8.
