Agreement Ends Months of Negotiation
After months of tense negotiations, Dutch nationalist Geert Wilders and his coalition partners have reached an agreement. Mr. Wilders' policies, including a proposed ban on Islamic headscarves in public buildings, have been the subject of much debate.
Wilders' Influence in Dutch Politics
Wilders has influenced Dutch immigration policy from the opposition benches since 2006. In the Netherlands November election, Wilders collected 25 million votes nationwide, more than 23% of the total.
Anti-Islam Policies
Wilders founded the Freedom party PVV in 2004, placing anti-Islam policies at the heart of his party's platform. His victory last year shook Dutch politics, sending a shock across the country and Europe.
