Berlin Launches New LGBT-Focused Daycares

Two Planned Facilities Set to Open in 2023

Berlin is set to open two new daycare centers with a focus on the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) children and families. The centers will be part of a multi-generational housing project for homo- and bisexual people in the Schöneberg district and are scheduled to open in the spring of 2023.

The project is being spearheaded by the Schwulenberatung Berlin, a queer advice center, and is part of a larger initiative to create more inclusive and supportive environments for LGBTI families in Berlin. The daycare centers will be staffed by LGBTI childcare providers and will offer a variety of programs and services designed to meet the specific needs of LGBTI children and their families.

According to the Schwulenberatung Berlin, the daycare centers will be the first of their kind in Germany and will provide much-needed support for LGBTI families. The centers will offer a safe and welcoming environment for LGBTI children to grow and develop, and will help to reduce the stigma and discrimination that LGBTI families often face.

The opening of the daycare centers has been met with some controversy, with some critics arguing that they are unnecessary and that they will promote a "gay agenda." However, the Schwulenberatung Berlin has defended the project, arguing that it is vital to create more inclusive and supportive environments for LGBTI families.
